2degrees mobile service in Christchurch update 23/2/2011 2:30pm

The 2degrees Christchurch network was largely undamaged in the earthquake and switched to battery power as planned - however, those batteries have been run down over night and during today, so some parts of the Christchurch will be without service.

Today we’re getting generators in so we can restore service while we wait for return of the power supply.  Access to Christchurch is limited and we need to work in with emergency services and other providers, so we don’t yet have a time for when those generators will be in place.

Please bear with us. The network is in good shape, so once we have generators we’ll be able to restore lost service.

For customers in Christchurch or those calling to and from the city,  please continue to text rather than call. This will help us maintain battery power for as long as possible.

For customers elsewhere, our networks unaffected so there’s no reason not to keep in touch.
