True mobile market competition one step closer

2degrees, New Zealand’s newest mobile network company, hopes the government will move quickly and accept today’s Commerce Commission recommendation on Mobile Termination Rates (MTRs).

NZ Herald’s interesting take on recent Commerce Commission Report

Adam Gifford of the NZ Herald takes a measured approach when looking at the Commerce Commission’s recent report on mobile termination rates (the amount mobile phone companies charge others to connect with their networks). The Commerce Commission decided by split decision to recommend that Communications Minister Steven Joyce accepts the undertakings by Vodafone and Telecom.

Decision extends suffering for New Zealand mobile users

Today is a very disappointing day for New Zealand mobile users. After much delay, the Commerce Commission appears to have squandered a golden opportunity to finally bring New Zealand mobile prices into line with the rest of the developed world.
